YOUTH ACTIVITIES
When young people feel good about themselves they operate more efficiently and productively in our communities, families and schools. Recreation activities teach the importance of trust, appropriate risk taking, supportive social interaction and personal challenge while creating valuable life long memories. Leaders are trained, developed and nurture through recreation & leisure activities such as Jr. Leadership, camps & programs.
Participation in recreational activities is vital for youth as it allows for escape from the everyday pressures from school, from home and from peers. Recreation programs offer an opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and develop an interest in something positive. Learn to Skateboard Camps, Just for Girls, Leadership Programs, Day Adventures, and Social Inclusion situations are some examples of programs for our youth population. The Riverview Parks & Recreation Department also offers numerous volunteer opportunities for people of all ages.
